A Patient Partner Coalition (PPC) member and kidney donor, Hugh Kennedy, was interviewed on Information Morning – Fredericton with Jeanne Armstrong on Sept 10, 2024, sharing his inspiring story of why he chose to donate his kidney and what that process looked like for his family. In Oct 2023, Hugh donated his kidney to his brother-in-law after watching him live with kidney disease for more than two decades.
Hugh asked himself how he would feel if he had to go to his brother-in-laws funeral, and decided he needed to try to donate. Finding the initial information to start the steps towards donating was difficult, but almost a year to the date after he contacted the program to donate his kidney, he was taken in for surgery.
